Club farewell for Adam

Part of the local Phuket community that came together last night at the club to farewell their friend Adam Tepper

Part of the local Phuket community that came together last night at the club to farewell their friend Adam Tepper

Over 130 locals turned out at the ACYC club last night to farewell their young club member and friend, Adam Tepper who lost his life tragically in a motorbike accident in the early hours of Thursday morning.  Although business interests saw him back in Australia in recent times, Adam has been part of the local community for many years. He has served on the sailing club committee and was a keen sailor at regattas and Sunday club racing when he was in town.  Adam’s genuine ability to bridge the age gap was evident as tributes came from the young and not so young present on the night. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Adam’s body is being returned to Australia for a family funeral to be held in Melbourne March 6th.

Sudden, sad passing of our club member Adam Tepper

Long-standing and active ACYC member, Adam Tepper, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in the early hours of Friday 27 February. We will miss him both at the yacht club bar and out on the water. For those who want to raise a glass or two to Adam, there will be a wake at the club at 6pm Sunday 1 March 1340523402_1

Benefits of Joining Ao Chalong Yacht Club

Sailing is fun to enjoy, practice and race with other people. ACYC is a community that you are welcome to be a part of. Becoming members of ACYC not only entitles you to great discounts on sailing courses, club race entry and on food and drinks at the restaurant, but gives you a chance to sail on your own accord and make a club community. Members are entitled to free boat hire which is a great opportunity to practice skills learnt in courses and helps make sailing an affordable and regular activity. The only catch is you must have a safety boat on watch when sailing to be ready to help when required. Safety boat training can be provided to members for free! This means once trained to drive the safety boat, people can get together with approved safety boat drivers to go for a sail. Please contact us to book as boats are subject to boat availability and there will be a small charge to cover fuel costs. Boat hire is available without approved safety drivers being available as the sailing school can offer an instructor for a fee.

Without members there is no club and the more members we have the more club activities we can do so come and join our growing community and help shape our club.

Contact us to get involved!

In September there will be 2 club sessions available to club members at a discounted rate of 900 THB per person.  The dates for these will be:

  • 14th September 13.30-17.00 and
